Oliva M. Espín's Memoir "My Native Land is Memory: Stories of a Cuban Childhood"


Published by SDSU Press in January of 2020, Dr. Oliva Espín's beautiful memoir links history, culture and childhood together. On February 15th, in association with the Osher Institute at SDSU and as a part of their online lecture series, Espín will be discussing the memoir over Zoom. 

Espín's memoir recalls her life growing up in Cuba. The SDSU professor offers a unique narrative regarding Latin America, the United States and immigration. Espín weaves her past and present together with an expert feminist view.

The upcoming webinar hosted by the Osher Institute at SDSU will discuss the novel with Espín herself.  The 90 minute webinar will be held on February 15th, 2021 at 1:30pm-3pm PST. There will be a 60 minute presentation on the memoir, and then an open Q&A session that will last 30 minutes.
